What we knew as Lilley's Farm on Vale Road named Vale House.
Mr Lilley the owner was the local Hawker back in the fifties and would sell fruit and vegetables from the back of his old Ford Lorry.
The Farm house being one of the oldest buildings in Thrybergh. I am not sure which century it was built but it still maintained the charm of the old English country Cottage. Some of the old out buildings were still present at the rear of the Farm, back in the 1800's there was a well on the property. So what happened to this wonderful old building that should have been preserved as part of the heritage of Thrybergh, its been demolished ! I cannot believe it.
Many of the old buildings like the farm
house above are still there, on the left hand side of Park Lane near the
intersection of Doncaster Road are the stone cottages where the local
farmhands and trades people would have lived.
