The photo's below taken 1930 /31 have
been kindly sent in by Peter O' Brien who is an ex pupil of St. Gerard's,
over the years Peter has become somewhat of an historian regarding St.
Gerard's. It is fortunate for the rest of us that people like Peter have the
foresight to collect and preserve photos and information, enabling future
generations to enjoy a glimpse of times gone by. Here below is a great
record of the some of the first Pupils of St. Gerards School. Often School
photos like the one below are the only photos remaining of some of our
ancestors, and possibly the only photos ever taken during their Childhood.
The second photo is really special for me as it contains an image of my
eldest sister, and a cousin I have never met. It also contains Parents of
Children I went to School with. The third photo contains a young Danny
Williams, who grew up to be one of the most popular figures in the Rotherham
Area as a star player for Rotherham United. The Headmaster Mr. James Conroy
on the left was to remain at St. Gerard's until his retirement which was
approx 1962.
