| The Reresby's |
|
Foreword: I suppose one could call the following pages the rise
and fall of the Reresby's of Thrybergh, as the story of the family dates
back to the 12th century, and from there the family became well established
with the nobility of England, only to disappear as a noble house in the mid
1700s. The story of the Reresby's has all the ingredients of
a great novel, it is a story of mystery, intrigue, deception, adventure, and
honour. Lately thanks to the memoirs of Sir John Reresby the name has once
more emerged.

This needs verifying but it appears there was a Alexander Fitz Osbern Ormsby of Ormsby, Lincolnshire, [ Descendant of Baron Fitz Osbern ] who married a Juliana De Reresby also of Ormsby, Lincolnshire, England possibly around 1155 who were the parents of Isorius Fitzalexander De Reresby born around 1155.
Now according to the Oxford dictionary of English
surnames by Reaney and Wilson where we find Ysaoria [ below ] listed, and
according to the dictionary the name Reresby originates from the place
Reasby in Lincolnshire, which is a small hamlet just North of Lincoln. So
assuming the Alexandra and Juliana were in their twenties they would have
been born around the mid 1120's.
Ysaoria Reresby 1206 who can be found on the Assis
Rolls was born in Ormsby Licolnshire
Margery Normanville was born in Thrybergh in 1248 she
was a daughter of Ralph Normanville born around 1220 at Thrybergh and
Avicia born around 1224 who held Thrybergh at this time, Margery married
Ralph Reresby who was born around 1248 in Ashover Derbyshire, he was the son
of Isidore Reresby and Amicia.
