The Miners Working Life 2

A presentation by Peter Lawery

Earnest Lawery C 1940

After the coal mines act of 1911 it was required that Miners in a responsible position had training for which they received certificates. Here below are the certificates and acceptance of appointments of Earnest Lawery during the years 1941 and 1942. On the right is Earnest taken around 1940 in uniform.

Below are documents recording the working life of Peter Lawery's father, you will note that like everything else in the mining industry everything including job description was coded.

Starting work in 1930 until his retirement in 1966, leaving him as yet another miner with respiratory problems.
