From a article in the Rotherham Advertiser 10/10/2003 Story By Alex Forrest Ravenfield Old Village secured second place in the Royal Horticultural Society's Britain in Bloom contest in 2003. The tiny village earned enough points to receive a special Silver Award and was only marginally behind the winning Scottish village, Drumnadrochit, which secured a Silver Gilt Award. The judging criteria includes the cleanliness of public areas, the amount of community involvement and environmentally friendly facilities, and the beauty of the flowerbeds. |
