The band above has a great little story as to why it was formed, apparently there was a man in Dalton with no legs so the band was formed to raise money to buy him a wheelchair. The fund raising was successful and the man got his wheelchair. The photo itself is quite amazing in the variety of hats worn, there's even the old Australian slouch hat [ third from right back row ] which could be from the first world war or even the Boer war. The little drum [ forth from right front row has written upon it "On the Shelf " Many thanks to Danny Cassidy for the photo and information. |
