DALTON OLD AND NEW A Presentation by Manual Arroyo |
|
The photo above was taken from the attic window of the Arroyo house prior to 1999 by Manual Arroyo the younger brother of Luis who has provided many of the recent photos on this site. Just off centre is the building we all knew as the Bughut, which was the local cinema prior to the late1960's when for awhile it became the Catholic Club. Beyond which we can see the Grapes Hotel, and the chequered outline of the Silverwood Miners Welfare to the right of the Grapes. On the skyline we can see the Thrybergh steel works on the left, and the old Thrybergh park on the right. We can also see the old tiles on the roof in the foreground which look in an obvious state of needing repair, but demolition was just around the corner. To the right are the new Bungalows of Dalton Brook.
My thanks Manual for this unusual photo which is a gem! |
