By this time the steel works and mines at nearby Aldwarke had drawn many people into the Dalton area, with the opening of Silverwood Colliery in 1901 came a further influx of workers and the population of this once sleepy little hamlet exploded. In 1801 Dalton's total population was 225. In 1901 it was 438. By 1971 the population was 8,080.
In 1801 Ravenfield's total population was 172. In 1901 it was 217. By 1971 the population was 1,232. The Dalton estate was sold to C. H. Swift on the 20th Febuary 1900. In 1906 the Houses were built in Dalton Brook by Dalton Main Co.

Dalton Brook had changed dramatically, whilst the Parva and Magna received a smaller impact
