In 1558 the manor at Thrybergh was described as extending into Dalton and contained  2 watermills, 5 messuages, 10 cottages, 100 acres of land, 40 meadows, 100 of pasture and 2 shillings 4d rent (Hunter, 1831).

I. 1583 the Foljambe family of Osberton, Nottinghamshire receipt for £31 11s 11½d,  for half a year's chief rents, due to the Queen from estates at Morthinge, Brampton, Howton under Hagge, Dalton Magna, Dalton Parva, Sladehouton, Cokriddinges, Bramleye, Ranfeild, Swinton, Rawmershe, Over Haughe, Nether Haughe, Cortworthe, Gresbrooke, Abdye, Thorpe, Hesheleye and Meuxborowe .
